Things to Do around the Wharf

There is something for everyone at and around the District Wharf, one of the hottest new areas Washington, DC. Dine, shop, walk the pier, check out the historic DC Fish Market, or take out a paddleboat – there’s plenty to do to make the most of your time on Friday and Saturday before the wedding. Here are some things to consider:

Discover the Wharf, with all of its restaurants, shops, things to do, and nearby attractions.

Getting around is easy! The Wharf The Wharf offers a free shuttle that can  can be caught just steps from the entrance to the hotel. It is easy to take the shuttle between The Wharf and the National Mall (drop off near the Smithsonian Castle and  and Hirshhorn Museum) and brand new International Spy Museum (which is also just a short walk from the hotel).

Explore the Shuttle Route and Hours of Operation

Looking for something a little more out of the ordinary? ARTECHOUSE, DC’s first innovative art space dedicated to showcasing experiential and technology-driven works by artists who are frontrunners of the new age in the arts and technology, is about a 10-minute walk from The Wharf. With rotating exhibitions every few months, there’s no telling yet what will be in store during our wedding weekend, but be sure to check it out as the date approaches to find out what the current installation will be.

About a 20-minute walk or one subway stop from the hotel is DC’s second hottest neighborhood – Navy Yard, or “the Yards,” as it is affectionately known – home to the Washington Nationals baseball stadium and boasting plenty of good eats and things do to of its own!

Here is Thrillist’s list of the Best Things to do in Navy Yard.

There is no shortage of fun things to do and places to visit at around the Wharf, so we hope you'll come early and enjoy this exciting new area!

About Us

Our Story

For those who don't believe the old adage, "When you least expect it, expect it," we are living proof.

Believe it or not, we met on a singles trip to Scandinavia and Russia in August 2017. Neither of us was expecting to come home with a significant other - we were just hoping for a great vacation and looking forward to meeting some new travel friends.

Looking back, it was really rather amazing that we met on this particular trip, given that both of us had strongly considered not going! Lucky for us, we both made the right decision!

As the group gathered in the hotel lobby for the first event of the pre-cruise, Jake spotted Debbie and came loping across the room to introduce himself. At the time, Debbie didn't realize just why Jake was in such a rush to get across the lobby, but, eventually, after several days of spending time together on land and at sea, she figured it out!

A few days into the trip, after we spent our entire first day at sea together and we were about to head back to our staterooms at the end of the evening, Jake "popped the question" that started it all. He asked, "May I kiss you?" To which Debbie replied, "Yes, you may!"

And, the rest, as they say, is history.

Here we are, getting ready for the biggest day of our relationship.

We can't wait to get married and start our new life together - in the same city!

And we are so happy that each of you is a part of our wonderful love story!
